Welcome to Black Swamp Retrievers website. I'm owner Chet Welch from Northwest Ohio also known as The Great Black Swamp region.

Retrievers have been a passion of mine since my first Labrador "Ranger" I got when I was sixteen years old. Spending time with Man's Best Friend is what I like to do. I currently have two black female Labs, "HR Midnight Mia Bella" and "HRCH UH Blackswamps Bring Em Back Brie JH" and a yellow male Lab puppy "Blackswamps Spirit Of The Wild".

The purpose of our kennel is to train, raise, breed, trainable, talented and stylish looking retrievers. We compete them in HRC & AKC hunt tests regionally and nationally. Breeding is done if dogs are genetically healthy dogs, meaning if they are OFA, EIC, CNM, and CERF cleared. We look for the finest dogs in the United States and Canada to breed with, they must have a proven track record of high perfomance in hunt tests or field trials.

I'm a firm believer that the Labrador Retriever is a very versatile dog, often allowing many families to make the decision of getting a dog easy. They make good hunting companions, are great with kids and are pleasant to have in or around the house.

All of our litters will be placed in "working" homes, preference will given to those competing in Field Trials, hunt tests whether it's HRC or AKC, or hunting homes Upland or Waterfowl. It's my belief that the Lab breed was meant to hunt and chase game.
